Natural Makeup Looks
I love natural makeup looks!
Natural makeup is timeless and really celebrates the beauty of one’s features.
Today, we're talking about how to achieve that flawless understated look that enhances your natural features rather than transforming them into something completely different.
From essential techniques to product recommendations, we'll be getting into all the juicy details!
Everyone needs some good natural makeup looks in their back pocket and today, you'll get just that!
Preparing The Canvas - Skincare as the Foundation
Before diving into the makeup application, it’s crucial to emphasize the importance of skincare.
A radiant complexion starts with a well-nourished and hydrated canvas.
Daily Moisturizer
You absolutely need to start with moisturizer. I absolutely LOVE this Dewy Day Cream by Dime Beauty.
At only $36, not only is it affordable, but it's also clean! If you have sensitive skin like me, you're going to love this. It moisturizes my skin without making it greasy! I love this product and use it under my makeup every day!
Sunscreen & Primer
The 2nd most important thing you should NEVER forget is to use a sunscreen and then a primer. Sometimes, you can find a sunscreen and primer all in one!
The sunscreen protects you from sun damage obviously and your primer is like a barrier between you and all environmental impurities as well as your makeup.
So definitely remember to lather up with both!! Your skin is going to thankyou down the road.
NATURAL MAKEUP LOOKS: STEP 1 FOUNDATION
In order to achieve a beautiful natural makeup look, you want to make sure you're using a foundation that blends with you skin seamlessly, providing coverage without appearing heavy or cakey.
Again, the key is the skincare beneath your foundation.
If you don't have moisturized skin underneath, you most definitely will have cakey looking makeup.
FOUNDATION APPLICATION
Put a small amount on the top of your wrist, dab a few times with a beauty blender and then pat on your face, starting with the areas that need it the most and then blending outward.
NATURAL MAKEUP LOOKS: STEP 2 CONCEALER
Just like the foundation, I like using a beauty blender to blend in my concealer for perfect finish!
NATURAL MAKEUP LOOKS: STEP 2 SETTING POWDER
Setting powder is a must after you use liquid foundation or concealer. You want to use a very light setting powder to keep everything in place but since this is a natural makeup look, we're not going to go crazy with really dusting everything like we would for a dressy look.
NATURAL MAKEUP LOOKS: STEP 3 BLUSH
The next step to perfecting your skin is adding in that sunkissed look.Aka, blush!
This is where blush will literally transform your skin from flat to sunkissed and dimensional.
Use a feathery brush and hit your nose, cheek bones, forehead, eyelids and chin. It will literally look like you just came home from a day in the sun.
NATURAL MAKEUP LOOKS: STEP 4 BROWS
If you have light brows like me, consider using a brow gel to add a little definiton. You can also leave them as is, as this is a natural makeup look and we're not trying to create that powder brow look today.
NATURAL MAKEUP LOOKS: STEP 5 EYESHADOW
I change the eyeshadow I use just about every day because I get bored of using the same one every time. So I don't have one in particular to recommend, but here's my natural makeup looks process.
You want too start off by covering the lid with a skin colored shade. This provides a great base to build on.
Then build up your crease with a color that resembles that natural color of the shadow in that area. Definitely watch my youtube tutorial for a visual of this!
NATURAL MAKEUP LOOKS: STEP 6 EYELINER
I'm a huge fan of using a tad bit of liner on the outer edges of your eye. I feel this beautifully accentuates your eye without giving you too much of a dark look.
I know I sound like a broken record with all my Tarte recommendations but I promise I really do love their products.
NATURAL MAKEUP LOOKS: STEP 7 LASHES/MASCARA
They're two dollars on Amazon, so you can't beat that!
After curling your lashes, I like to finish off with a few coats of Mascara. My recent favorite is W3LL people's Volumizing Mascara.
NATURAL MAKEUP LOOKS: STEP 8
THE PERFECT LIPS
Finishing off things, to create the perfect lip you just need a touch of liner and a moisturizing balm.
I have been obsessed with this liner! It is so beautiful, mimics my natural lip color and pairs with just about anything else I put on my lips.
You definitely need to try out the Tarte Juicy Maracuja Lip Liner in Mauve.
