How To Get Rid Of Acne
Today, we're talking about how to get rid of acne! When you really break it down, the most important thing is to address the root cause which is hormonal imbalance or inflammation in the body.
If you want more tips on how I did that, check out my post here!
In this post though, we're talking about what you can do for your skin as far as topical skincare.
If you have your diet and lifestyle in check, putting in place a good skin regimen will be the cherry on top that will ensure you don't break out moving forward!
How To Get Rid Of Acne Step #1:
Gentle Cleansing
Use. a mild, non-comedogenic cleanser to wash your face twice daily. Avoid harsh soaps that may strip away essential oils, leading to increased oil production.
I love using Paula's Choice extra strength acne cleanser, it comes in a blue bottle!
This gentle, acne-fighting cleanser removes excess oil, pore-clogging debris and makeup without drying skin or causing redness on my very sensitive acne/rosacea prone skin.
Works like a charm and definitely has helped curb my breakouts, especially the small tiny bumps caused from clogged pores.
How To Get Rid Of Acne Step #2:
Topical Treatments
After you cleanse, the next recommendation I would give is to incorporate a spot treatment on your trouble areas.
Make sure it contains ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or retinoids. These help unclog pores, reduce inflammation and prevent new breakouts.
The best spot treatment I've used is also by Paula's choice.
It's the Extra Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment with 5% Benzoyl Peroxide.
I haven't found anything stronger that works so good for tackling existing breakouts and preventing further breakouts.
It also doesn't make my skin start pealing which has happened with some other treatments I've tried.
How To Get Rid Of Acne Step #3:
Exfoliate
It's important you are exfoliating at least once a week to help clear away old skin and prevent any clogged pores which end up causing acne.
Not only does it help clear away any old skin, but also helps with texture and fine lines. I love this products soo much!
I also use this product on the back of my upper arms and really helps the skin texture there as it can tend to be bumpy.
How To Get Rid Of Acne Step #4:
Stop Touching Your Face
Refrain from touching your face. I know it's easier said than done, but this can transfer bacteria and irritate the skin.
I know its easy if you work at a desk and rest your face on your hand, but thats one way you can help prevent acne and irritation.
Also, I know we've all heard this before, but avoid picking or squeezing pimples, as it can worsen inflammation and lead to scarring.
I am definitely a culprit for this, but picking and squeezing causes damage to the skin, so avoid it if at all possible!
How To Get Rid of Acne Step #5:
Sun Protection
Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.
Acne creams and treatments can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so its important to protect it to avoid further damage.
HOW TO GET RID OF ACNE STEP #6:
Choose Non-Comedogenic Products
Opt for skincare and cosmetic products labeled as non-comedogenic to prevent your pores from becoming clogged.
A lot of makeup these days, contain ingredients that will clog your pores, so pay careful attention to this.
HOW TO GET RID OF ACNE STEP #7:
Consult A Dermatologist
If these over the counter treatments are not effective, or if you have severe acne, I always recommend you consult a dermatologist.
They can prescribe stronger medications or recommend procedures like chemical peels or laser therapy to help aid your skin in healing.
At the end of the day, it's important to remember that acne can be cured by tackling the root issue that is causing it in the first place
This post was all about how to Get rid of Acne!
